Texas Drought

I covered a national news story recently for the New York Times about the Spicewood Beach community running out of water. The private community near Austin has its own well that was gifted to the LCRA to manage years back. Now the community is having water trucked in to meet its needs. I gathered a generally bitter feeling from the residents who were very friendly, but obviously unhappy with the impeding stress of their situation. You can read Manny Fernandez story about the Texas Drought and see some of my images too.

Summer in Seattle

I went to Washington state over the weekend for a wedding and got to do a lot of stuff along the way to Bellingham for the wedding. Here are some images from time spent with my friend and Seattle photographer Mike Kane. We tried to go out on his boat, fixed his motor, drank beer and went out on his boat successfully. We caught a crab in the Peugot Sound and then rowed back to our put in for about an hour after the boat stalled in the locks. It was a great adventure. Blue skies broke through the gray weather in the afternoon, but I made a good choice to wear a snowboarding jacket to avoid being cold. Mike has fixed his boat and is out crabbing again.
